About Image Converter

Converting to JPEG flattens any transparency onto a white background, since JPEG has no transparency channel — PNG and WebP both keep transparency intact. JPEG and WebP let you set a quality level; PNG is lossless, so its output size depends on the image content rather than a quality setting.

What happens to transparency when converting to JPEG?+
JPEG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent areas are filled with white. Converting to PNG or WebP keeps transparency intact.
Does converting to PNG make the file bigger?+
Often, yes, especially coming from a JPEG or WebP photo — PNG is lossless and generally isn't the smallest choice for photographic images. If file size matters more than lossless quality, WebP or JPEG usually compress further; see Image Compressor if reducing size is the main goal.
Does this tool also resize or compress my image?+
It can adjust quality for JPEG/WebP output as part of the conversion, but it doesn't change the image's dimensions — use Image Resizer for that, or Image Compressor if you specifically want to target a smaller file size.
Will a photo taken on my phone come out sideways?+
